Conclusion Post
I learned a lot about formatting essays which I think will help me in future classes as well. I never did understand how to properly use MLA until I took this class. I also learned a lot about my (e)dentity which I thought was an extremely neat idea. I never thought about the fact that I have two identities.
From now on I will be concsious about what I am posting online and will always wonder what if what I am posting online is a true reflection of my life. I will miss you as a teacher and I will miss the discussions we had in class. Thank you for a great semester!

In class writing: a whole week without technology
If I had to go a whole week without technology I would spend the whole time camping. I would not miss technology if I was up in the mountains boating or fishing. I go camping for a week a few times a year and have no issue without cellphone reception or internet. I may miss playing games on my phone.
Journal #12: simplifying writing

-using too many words is one of the most common mistakes made.
-remove unneeded words and shorten phrases.

2. The bus company should announce the new schedule soon.
3. There are many ways for students to meet foreign students.

Journal Entry #11 - Help with Titling Your Paper
I found this great website that helps with figuring out the correct capitalization of your paper's title! It's great if you struggle with knowing when to capitalize a letter or when to keep it lowercase.

Also, if you are having issues with citing your sources this is a wonderful website to help you get a feel for creating those citations.

Journal Entry #10
I thought this was a great video about what we have been talking about in class. Many of the issues that are brought to light in this video I can relate with. Let's put down our smart phones and really connect with one another again!

Journal Entry # 7: Technology Will Never Replace Love
Here is an awesome video I found about technology and how human interaction will always trump technology...It's in another language so you will have to read the subtitles but it's really quite touching. I hope you enjoy!
In class writing #4: Public Displays of Connection
We have many different connections in life. Some of which we can visually see via networking sites such as Facebook.
On my Facebook I have approximately 300 friends. If I had to guess I would say that about 20 of those 300 are family, 3 are close friends, and the rest are people I knew in high school or coworkers and even friends of friends. I am not close to all the people I am connected to.

Journal #4: My Fourth Of July
This Fourth of July was by far the best I've had in years for the simple fact it was spent with my family (except mother who is currently on vacation in Korea). I had the opportunity to take my nephew to Layton days. We filled ourselves with elephant ears and mexican food and played on the rides there. I've never seen a 4 year old so tired but so excited for whatever we were planning on doing next.
After the festivities I had the opportunity to learn how to grill steaks. Which turned out amazing if I may say so myself. We finished off dinner with strawberry shortcake and an amazing firework show put on by my brother in law.
I realized today that technology may hinder our ability to socialize but it can also bring us together. I received an email on my phone telling me about Layton Days and the festivities going on. It was also much simpler using my phone to take pictures of my adorable nephew. Technology is what you make of it.

In Class Writing 1
This in-class writing is about my (E)Dentity versus my Identity.
Words that describe my Identity :
- Creative
- Dilatory (I tend to procrastinate)
- Family Oriented
- Crazy about kids
- Bookworm
- Asian American
- Horrible at math
- Adventurous
- Impulsive
- Clumsy
I see myself as an odd combination of clumsy and caring. My life revolves around my family and I can't seem to get over my love of children. I am an Asian-American who, surprisingly, is horrible at math. It seems no matter how much I try I am unable to stop procrastinating with my school work. Outside of school and my family life I am adventurous and impulsive and am always trying to live out whichever book I am currently reading.
Words that describe my (E)Dentity :
- Family Oriented
- Horrible at Math
- Adventurous
- Creative
My (E)Dentity mostly consists of Facebook posts as I do not have a Twitter or any other social media accounts. The little I do post on Facebook consists of picture taken of the three children I nanny which I would imagine portrays my love for children. I also occasionally post pictures of my latest craft projects, the results of a creative impulses acted upon. If I was someone else looking through my profile I would think that I was a well-travelled person who could start a book club with the amount of books I've read and, maybe, depends on Facebook too much as a math tutor.
The Differences:
Though there are many similarities when it comes to my Identity and my (E)Dentity I would have to say that there are many differences as well. An (E)Dentity cannot capture my emotions or the quirkiness of a situation as well as actual interaction can. My (E)Dentity seems happy and carefree when my Identity is defined by so many little things that aren't posted online or tweeted about. You cannot really get to know a person until you have interacted with them through many different situations. In conclusion I believe we should not judge people by their (E)Dentities...there is much more than what meets the eye.

Introduction
This blog is created for my English 1010 class as a paperless storage for my assignments. This is how I came up with the name "The Cabinet". I will be posting an array of different writings on here ranging from 3-page research essays to daily summaries that are only a few paragraphs. I find this an interesting and unique approach to class and am very excited to see it develop.
